- Ben Affleck mistaken as the bank robber

Ben Affleck is known more for his high profile engagement and subsequent break-up from Jennifer Lopez than his acting prowess. Despite having acted in a few good movies the world will always remember him as one-half of ‘Bennifer’ a name the tabloids had coined for him and JLo. The intense media pressure took a toll on his relationship with Jennifer and he split from her in 2004. His biggest achievement till date is the Oscar he got for writing the screenplay of Good Will Hunting(1997) along with Matt Damon.

Ben was into acting from a very young age, ever since he appeared in a Burger King commercial acting was all he could dream about. Since his father was a director, he got good exposure to the television world. By the age of twelve he even got a part on PBS’ educational mini-series The Voyage of The Mim’ but that same year he suffered a setback when his parents got divorced. His emotional setback was more than made up for because that year he also met life-long best friend Matt Damon. They played in the Little League Baseball together and attended drama school.

Ben spent most of teenage years acting in small TV movies and he returned to PBS for the sequel The Voyage of The Mimi 2 .He made his big screen debut in School Ties( 1990).Ben then appeared in a NBC show Against the Grain for a few episodes and did the movie Dazed and Confused (1993). He and Matt both worked in a few movies but nothing substantial came their way. They decided to take matters into their own hands. Both teamed up and wrote the movie Good Will Hunting.

Ben also became a regular star in all Kevin Smith movies like Mallrats (1995)and Chasing Amy (1997).He also tasted box-office success with movies like Armageddon (1998), Shakespeare in Love (1998) and Pearl Harbor (2001). As a child his favorite comic book hero was Daredevil, he realized his dream when he got the chance to play the super hero in the on-screen adaptation by the same name Daredevil (2003). The film was a moderate success because around the same time another Marvel Comics superhero had come to the big screen Spiderman.

Studio bosses tried to cash in on his high profile engagement to Jennifer Lopez by having them both star in the movie Gigli (2003). But this movie turned out to be the biggest stinker of all time at the box-office. Ben’s career nose-dived after this movie and his subsequent break-up didn’t help much either. He starred in some more forgettable movies almost ending his career.

Just when it looked that Ben was down and out things took an upturn for him. Ben found love in the form of his Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner. Both were perfect for each other and later got married in 2005. They have two daughters together. Ben played the role of George Reeves in the movie Hollywoodland (2006) for which he received a Best Actor Award at the Venice Film Festival and a Golden Globe nomination. In 2007 Ben came out with Gone Baby Gone his first directorial venture starring his brother Casey Affleck. The film was well received by audiences and critics alike giving hope to a career behind the camera.

Currently Ben is working on his next directorial venture The Town which he has also written and would be starring in as well. Ben is also working in the movie The Company Men alongside Tommy Lee Jones.
