"Aishwarya Rai" - best Chennai laughter queen.

Whether a smile increases one's face value or not, but people of Chennai on Saturday had a gala time checking this general saying when they participated in a "laughter programme", organised on the eve of the World Heart Day (September 25).

Organised by Saffola Healthy Heart Foundation in association with a Chennai-based Humour club, this programme's main objective was to highlight the role of laughter in heart-care.

'The Humour Queen, 2005' contest was the main highlight of the day. Among the panel of judges were the renowned Tamil comedian Madan Babu, actress Kanika and Prithvi Raj. The contestants performed mimicries, jokes, gibberish and dance among others. Some of them dressed like politicians, saints, film personalities, rowdies and imitated many other roles.

"Every contestant was given a minute and during that time she had exhibit her talent to make the audience laugh. The one who could make the audience laugh for the longest duration was to be crowned-the Saffola Humour Queen. It was first of its kind event organised in Chennai," said Latha Krishna, the Organiser. Participants of the conference said that laughter is the best medicine. Laughter helps to remove the impact of stress.

"We are all here to make others laugh as we all know the laughter is the best medicine. I am dressed up as Lalu Prasad Yadav and we have all come here to check see how it actually happens," said Abita, a participant.

A young girl, Krithika, who played the dual character of an old woman and film actress Aishwarya Rai, won the first prize and was selected as the Humor Queen.

Some came to laugh and a few to make others laugh. But there were many who were present only for the cause that either they or their loved ones have suffered a heart disease some time. (ANI)
