Jack Nicholson and The Best Kept Secret
10 October 2005
Abandoned by his father in his childhood, Jack Nicholson was raised with the certainty that his grandmother was his mother and his mother was his older sister.
The truth was revealed to him years later, when a Time magazine researcher uncovered it while preparing a story on the star.
The reason why this happened still remains a mystery.
In his well-known manner, the star commented that his mother and grandmother were two very special women, if they could keep a secret for such a long time.
The original actor has been nominated for an acting Oscar in five different decades (1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s).
He presented the Best Picture Oscar five times (in 1971, 1976, 1977, 1989, and 1992), more than any other actor or actress.
He is also one of only a few actors to win a Best Supporting Actor Oscar after winning a Best Actor Oscar.
Nicholson will next be seen in The Departed, directed by Martin Scorsese.
