Catherine Zeta-Jones Joins UK Children's Charity NSPCC

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has recently announced that she was named ambassador of UK children's charity The National Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Children (NSPCC), alongside Kylie Minogue.
The mother of two will spearhead the NSPCC FULL STOP Appeal in Wales. The announcement comes during the Society’s latest successful FULL STOP Campaign initiative – “Talk ‘til it stops”.
Speaking on the announcement, Catherine confessed: “My childhood in Wales was a very happy one. However, I know that not all children are so lucky and I therefore want to do all I can, especially as a parent myself, to help keep them free from harm. Wales is still my home and I am delighted to be part of the NSPCC’s very important work across the country.”
The NSPCC's FULL STOP Campaign was launched in March 1999 with one single aim – to end cruelty to children.
The FULL STOP Appeal was designed to ensure that sufficient financial resources would be in place to support such an extraordinary aspiration. It has been the largest domestic charitable appeal ever attempted by a national UK charity – aiming to raise £250 million.
As ambassador for the FULL STOP Appeal in Wales, Catherine will be a key support to the Board’s work.
“I am thrilled that Catherine has decided to lend her support to the Full Stop Campaign Appeal in Wales,” said Stanley Thomas OBE, Chairman of the FULL STOP Appeal in Wales.
“With Catherine’s help we can go forward to achieving our goal of creating a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfill their potential.”
In Wales, the cost to the NSPCC of delivering their services is almost £3.5 million per year. NSPCC Cymru/Wales currently runs 17 different services in Wales from locations across the country. These include The Young Witness Service and Children’s Advocacy and Representation Service, based in Catherine’s home city of Swansea.
