Monica Bellucci Shines Brightest in Venice Vote
23 SEPTEMBER 2005
When it comes to making your mark on the red carpet, it's hard to compete with the sultry glamour embodied by Italian actress Monica Bellucci. And given the fact she was on her home turf when she set the flashbulbs blazing at this year's Venice Film Festival, it should come as small surprise that she managed to outdo the other A-list contenders in our online poll for the event's most stylish gown.
Monica swept home in first place thanks to the skintight black satin number she wore to the screening of her latest flick The Brothers Grimm. The sexy creation took 35 per cent of the overall vote, despite a worthy challenge from her nearest runner-up Sienna Miller.
The British actress, who was in town to promote her movie Casanova, wore a Grecian-style sheath of steel-hued silk with a string of ruby crystals for her red carpet outing. She was neck-in-neck with the Matrix star until the close of voting, but in the end Italian allure won out.
Sienna's reputation for impeccable taste was upheld, though, as she clocked up more than double the number of votes received by third place Kirsten Dunst. Rachel Weisz, Renee Zellweger and Patricia Clarkson finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, with Susan Sarandon and Bjork in the final two positions.
