Meet a Star Who Doesn't Want to Know What He's Worth

25 October 2002

Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the lead role in the Harry Potter movies, says he has no idea how much he has earned -- and will earn -- from them. In an interview with the London Daily Telegraph, the 13-year-old actor remarked, "I don't know how much money I have, and I don't need to know, because I'm only a kid." Co-star Emma Watson, who is 12, added: "My parents decided not to tell me what I am earning because it is easier that way." Although director Chris Columbus indicated earlier in the week that he believes the three actors will be replaced after completing the third Potter film, The Prisoner of Azkaban, next year, Radcliffe told the Telegraph: "Harry actually grows in the books, and there's no reason why I can't grow with Harry, or why Emma can't grow with Hermione [Granger, her character] or Rupert with Ron [Weasley, his character]."
