Julie Howard Appointed Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and Brand Development, BeautyBank

The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. (NYSE:EL) announced today that Julie Howard has been named Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and Brand Development, BeautyBank. She joins the division from Clinique, where she was most recently Vice President, Global Product Marketing. Her appointment is effective September 1, 2006, and she will report to Jane Hertzmark Hudis, President of BeautyBank.


Ms. Howard will assume responsibility for all of BeautyBank's global marketing efforts. Currently, the division includes American Beauty, Flirt!, Good Skin(TM), Grassroots(TM) and Daisy Fuentes, all of which are sold exclusively in Kohl's Department Stores. Additionally, Ms. Howard will spearhead the creation of all new brands on a global basis. BeautyBank is an entrepreneurial think tank, dedicated to creating new global brand opportunities for The Estee Lauder Companies outside of traditional channels.

At Clinique, Ms. Howard was responsible for the development and global launch of new products in the treatment, makeup and fragrance categories, as well as men's skin care. Among the many successful introductions she worked on are Repairwear Anti-Aging Makeup SPF 15, Perfectly Real Makeup, Colour Surge Impossibly Glossy, High Impact Mascara, Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick, Blushing Blush and Clinique Happy.

Ms. Howard joined Clinique in 1996 as Executive Director, Fragrance Marketing, for North America, where she led the launch of Clinique Happy. She was promoted to Executive Director, Makeup and Hair Care, for North America in 2001, then Vice President, Global Makeup Marketing, in 2002 before being named Vice President, Global Product Marketing, in 2005. Earlier in her career, Ms. Howard was Director of Fragrance Development for Gryphon Development and served as Marketing and Product Development Manager at Donna Karan Beauty Co., launching Donna Karan Fragrance and Skin Care. Prior to that, Ms. Howard was part of the strategic team that launched Eternity and Eternity for Men at Calvin Klein Cosmetics.
