Saha Defends Rooney
Despite only having played a handful of games in the last six months following a broken metatarsal and a domestic three-match ban, Rooney has still been criticised for a series of, by his high standards, quiet displays and lack of goals in recent weeks.
Saha feels the disparaging comments levelled at his strike colleague are completely unwarranted and says Rooney is a constant threat to opposition defences regardless of whether or not he is on the scoresheet.
"I look at Wayne in the same way as I look at Thierry Henry," Saha told Century Radio. "If he is not scoring, or providing two or three assists in a game, everyone thinks he is playing badly.
"But I know from experience, just the way he moves provides a threat for the opposition teams.
"He creates massive problems for every defender who plays against him," added the Frenchman. "We all know the quality he has and the impact he can have on a game when he is on form."
