Madonna played Santa for ‘My Malawi Children’
Madonna could not visit the Malawi children this Christmas. But she let the children in the orphanage know that they were on her mind this Christmas.
There were boxes of chocolates, toys and other things shipped with a handwritten note from the singer saying, “To my Malawi children on Christmas and boxing day. I wish I was with you. See you soon, M.”
In the goodie boxes there were special greeting cards designed by Madonna, Rocco and Lourdes. The director of the Hope Orphange, Lucy Chipeta says, “How so sweet the women is! Madonna always says that she enjoys the traditional dances the villagers perform for her even when she visits. She asked us to invite as many villagers as possible for the Christmas party.”
She was supposed to visit Malawi with her U2 singer Bono, but somehow, the trip was rescheduled to spring.
