David Arquette Biography
David Arquette was born in a family that was well grounded in Hollywood and many of his family members are successful actors. His parents, Brenda Olivia and Lewis Arquette were both actors by profession. His mother is Jewish and his father converted to Islam. Being so closely associated with films he started off very early with a career in films. He did a small role in the movie Halfway House (1992) but his got better exposure playing a supporting role in his second movie, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992). He also played celebrity characters on many shows like Beverly Hills 90210 (1990—2000) and Friends. David has had to struggle a lot to get leading roles as most of movies were not big successes. He tasted critical success in the independent movie Johns where he played lead role though the movie was not a big hit. He finally tasted commercial success in Scream. He played the role of Dwight ‘Dewey’ Riley in the slasher movie about a serial killer in a high school. Originally, his character was supposed to die in the first movie itself but the test audience loved him so much that the script was rewritten to keep him alive. More importantly than the success, he met his future wife, Courtney Cox during the making of the movie. Courtney played the role of Gale Weathers who also has a romantic track with Dewey. David and Courtney had worked previously before together in an episode of Friends. They married in April, 1999. He reprised his role as role as Dewey in Scream 2 and Scream 3, both of them being box-office hits. He also did the supporting role in Never Been Kissed (1999) and won himself the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Best Supporting Actor. He did a few more movie sin between but nothing substantial. David also starred in a movie produced by World Championship Wrestling organization called Ready to Rumble. The movie did well and David got a chance to WCW. He was incorporated into their weekly show as a way to promote the movie. He even won the WCW championship belt and appeared in a few more episodes. Many hated his stint in wrestling and also his championship win was blamed to be one of the factors that led to the demise of WCW entertainment wrestling. Critical success has always evaded David most of his career but some reviews mostly for his independent films like Johns, Dream with the Fishes (1997) and They Grey Zone. He also got some success in the children’s movie See Spot Run (2001). David started his own production company with his wife called Coquette, which is a combination of both their surnames. He turned director with the horror movie The Tripper which had Courtney in the lead. The movie did not do well and David since has not directed another movie. David has recently separated from his wife, Courtney, after ten years together. They continue to be good friends and will also continue their professional relationship. | |
