Elizabeth Hurley (Elizabeth Jane Hurley) was born on June 10, 1965 in Hampshire, England. Her father was an army major and mother was a schoolteacher. Elizabeth has older sister Katie (literary agent) and younger brother Michael (engineer). She is Irish Catholic from her father's side. Elizabeth has attended ballet classes when she was 12. Elezabeth has earned a scholarship at a boarding school. She has also attended Harriet Costello School, London Studio Centre and Basingstoke College of Technology. In 1980, Elizabeth won a local newspaper's "Face of the Year" competition, which gave her a modeling contract with a prestigious London firm. Hurley also entered in acting career, appeared in many low budget British and Hollywood films. Elizabeth got the attention in the premier of the film Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994. She was in a black Versace dress held together with gold safety pins got the attention from media. The fame led her to a sole spokes model of Estée Lauder Cosmetics Company, in 1995. In her first month, Elizabeth launched the perfume "Pleasures". It has given good reviews. In 1997, Elizabeth landed a major role in Mike Myers spy comedy "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery". Followed by the success of Austin Powers she appeared in many high-profile films including "EdTV (1999)", "Bedazzled (2000)", and "Serving Sara (2002)" Hurley is also working as producer. Hurley and Grant opened a production company named "Simian Films". They have produced two films starring Grant, "Extreme Measures (1996)", "Mickey Blue Eyes (1999)", and 2004's "Method" starring Hurley. As a designer Hurley launched a beachwear line Elizabeth Hurley Beach in 2005. It is debuted in select Saks Fifth Avenue stores in the United States and Harrod's in the UK. As of 2006, it is expanded from Europe, the Middle East, Australia and Asia. Hurley is hosting a first season of the British reality series "Project Catwalk" featuring novice fashion designers.
