Despite being born to a father of Croatian descent and a mother of German descent Eric grew up to be a true blue Australian at heart. Eric is one of the few success stories of Hollywood that proves that inspite of not having a huge acting portfolio you can still make it big and even star in blockbusters like the The Hulk (2003).
Eric started his career in television as a stand-up comic. He was first noticed for his performance on the Tonight Live with Steve Vizard. The producers of the sketch show Full Frontal liked his act and hired him to write and perform for the show. Eric then had a couple more shows on TV after that but switched to movies; he debuted in the film The Castle (1997).His next film was the one that would get him a lot of adulation. He starred as the notorious criminal Mark ‘Chopper’ Read in the movie Chopper (2000).
Growing up Eric was a big fan of motorsports and continues to be till this day. He has raced in the Targa Tasmania and the Adelaide Classic. He is also an avid fan of Australian Rules football. Eric is married to Rebecca Gleeson who is a publicist and has two children with her, son Klaus and daughter Sophia.
Eric has starred in quite a few big films in a short span of time. Some of his films include Black Hawk Down (2001), Troy (2004), Munich (2005) and Star Trek (2009). Eric recently turned producer and director for documentary like film titled Love the Beast (2009). The movie is about how he got first car and follows his journey of becoming a car lover.
