If there was a list made of the most internationally recognizable actors in Holly wood, George Clooney would definitely be in the top ten. Despite being a drunk and a serial womanizer, George enjoys the biggest fan following an actor could have. George has always kept his skeletons outside the closet, preferring to have no big secrets from his fans. George is probably the best example of how to use your celebrity status for social causes. He is the goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Organization.
George is frequently featured on many Eligible Bachelor Lists. He has famously sworn off marriage and kids, after having been divorced once. He was married to Talia Balsam; the marriage lasted only four years. Since then he has had a lot of high profile relationships but none of them ending up in marriage.
George was a born into a family that was connected to the glamour world. His mother Nina was a former beauty pageant winner and his father Nick was a TV news anchor and a game show host. Nick wanted his children to know about his work and hence took his children, George and his elder sister Adelia to work with him. It is here that George had a taste of the limelight and loved it.
George somehow finished his schooling and high school, but dropped out of college to pursue a career in acting. He did odd-jobs and collected enough money to move to Hollywood. At first he lived with his aunt for a few days but left the house when he couldnít complete the chores given to him. He stayed with a friend, sleeping in his closet. Thanks to his good looks, he managed to find work in a lot of pilot shows but none of them became full time shows. After doing a few odd TV roles he landed his first real gig. He got the role of Dr. Doug Ross on the medical drama series ER. The show was huge hit making George a household name. While on ER, George worked in a few movies. His first movie was with Charlie Sheen called Grizzy II but the movie did not see the light of day and never got released.
Just like his TV career, George had to act in a lot bad films to get a good film. That film came in the form of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). The movie was a hit and opened the doors for George for other good films. After doing a couple of good movies George landed the role of Batman in Batman and Robin (1997). The movie was a mild hit but a critical disaster.
International fame came to George in the form of Oceanís Eleven (2001). This movie was the remake of 1960ís Frank Sinatra starrer by the same name. The movie was a mega hit and collected over $440 million worldwide. Clooney directed his first movie Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) in 2002. Though, the movie was not a success, Georgeís style of direction was well appreciated. He won the prestigious Oscar Award for his role in the Middle Eastern drama Syriana (2005). That same year he wielded the mega-phone for the second time by directing and writing Good Night, and Good Luck (2005). This movie was a moderate success and earned him an Oscar nomination.
In 2007, George starred in Michael Clayton, for which he also received an Oscar nomination. He then directed his third film Leatherheads (2008) His last film Up in the Air (2009) directed by Jason Reitman of Juno fame also garnered him nominations at many prestigious awards.
George started his own production company by the name of Maysville Productions, he produced TV shows with this production house, and he also opened another production by the name of Section 8 under which he produces movies. George is currently dating Elisabetta Canalis, whom he met in 2009.
