John Joseph Nicholson was born on April 22, 1937 in St. Vincent's Hospital, New York, USA. His nickname is Mulholland Man. He is the son of Italian-American showman Don Furcillo-Rose and June Frances Nicholson, a dancer. He was completed his graduation from Manasquan High School, Manasquan, New Jersey.

He is a highly successful, iconic American method actor. John Nicholson is best known for portraying antagonistic, cynical, neurotic and aggressive characters. John Nicholson was started his career as a writer, actor, and producer. He is a fan of the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers.

In his childhood, he had always thought of his grandmother as his mother and his real mother as his sister. After the death of his mother and his grandmother, he was informed that his sister was in fact his mother.
