Jessica Simpson News
- Jessica Simpson gushes over her beau Eric Johnson

In today’s media crazy world, the tabloids can make or break careers, and it seems they want to break Jessica Simpson’s career. Ever since her emergence to fame in 1999, she has been relentlessly followed by the paparazzi. Be it her relationships, or her bad acting skills, the tabloids have made a mockery of her personal life.

The only good thing about her doing rounds in the news is her engagement to footballer Eric Johnson. The two got engaged on the 14th of November, 2010. But Jessica, is also somewhat to be blamed for bringing upon her bad publicity. In one of her interviews, Jessica revealed that she does not brush her teeth. She only wipes them in the morning with her jersey or some other piece of cloth.

This disgusting piece of information may still not be as bad as her former boyfriend John Mayer calling her sexual napalm in print. John, while doing an interview, said the Jessica was like sexual napalm and was sexually very addictive. Jessica was horrified by the comments, and John even apologized for them. But the damage had been done; maybe, it was lesson for Jessica for dating someone like John Mayer, a known womanizer.

Jessica started off singing in churches as her father, Joe, was a youth minister. In one of her performances, she was noticed by an agent for a Christian label called Proclaim. They immediately signed her, and she recorded her first album called Jessica. Sadly, the label went bankrupt, and the album had to be released by Jessica’s grandmother. Luckily, the album somehow ended up in the hands of Columbia Records President Tommy Mottola. He loved her voice and immediately signed her on.

Her first album, Sweet Kisses (1999), was released in 1999, and did really well. She even toured with the boy band 98°, where she met Nick Lachey. Nick was one of the lead singers, and the two dated for quite a while, two years in fact. They split, but came back together after the September 9/11 attacks, and the two got married in October 2002. The very next year, the two starred in the reality show on MTV called Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica (2003–2005). The show was a hit, and did a lot of good for Jessica’s music career as her third album; In This Skin (2003) was released simultaneously.

Whereas in 2004, ugly rumors about the Jessica’s marriages started doing the rounds. There were speculations about a divorce, but nothing happened further. She even pitched a sitcom called Jessica to ABC, the pilot of the show was shot, but never got aired, and the show was cancelled altogether. May be the name Jessica itself was proving to be unlucky, as her first album too was named that. Jessica signed onto play the famous role of Daisy Duke in the remake of The Dukes of Hazzard (2005). The film did well, but only in the domestic market. Things finally started unraveling for Jessica in 2005, the tabloids were all over her marriage with Nick, and soon there were reports of a divorce. The two eventually split, late in 2005, and their divorce was finalized in 2006. Jessica also parted ways with Columbia Records and signed with Epic Records, they released the album A Public Affair (2006), but it did not do that well.

After her split, Jessica had a few romantic liaisons with a few celebs, but she finally settled with John Mayer. The two had a very on-again off-again relationship for quite a while. But, as we know, it ended badly, and problem got worse after John’s statement to the press. Ill-luck in the relationship department continued for Jessica, as she next started dating Tony Romo, the football player. It was again the media that relentlessly dogged the couple and Tony, coincidentally, suffered from poor form in football. Jessica was blamed as the reason behind this; the two also did not last very long.

Things finally fell into place for Jessica after she decided to cut a country music album. Using a clever ploy, her first single was mysteriously leaked onto the internet. The single was one of the most downloaded songs on the net and gave the album a pre-release publicity it required. The album Do You Know (2008) was released, and became her first album to reach the # 1 in the Billboard Country Albums. Her music career was back on track, but sadly, the same could not be said of her film career. All her subsequent films after Dukes, Employee of the Month (2006), Blonde Ambition (2007) and Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous (2008), bombed at the box-office, with the latter one releasing straight onto DVD.

Her last album, Happy Christmas (2010), was released during the holidays and was doing well. Her love life too seems on track with her engagement to footballer Eric Johnson.
