Josh Hartnett Biography

An American actor Josh Hartnett was born on July 21 1978 in San Francisco, California. He was raised by his father Daniel Hartnett and stepmother Molly. After divorcing from his father his real mother moved back to her native San Francisco. Josh has three siblings Jessica, Jake and Joe.

Josh Hartnett grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota and attended Nativity of Our Lord catholic Grade School. In school time he played a small role in Huck Finn in an 8th grade production. Later he had attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School before joining South High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He completed his graduation from South High School in June 1996.

When Josh was in high school he plays football. But because of injury in his left knee very soon he stopped playing football. He got an opportunity to start his acting career with Youth Performance Company in Minneapolis. His first job was working at a Mr. Movies in St. Paul. After that he went to New York and attended SUNY in Purchase.

In April 1997 Josh Hartnett appeared as Michael Fitzgerald on the short-lived American television series, Cracker. Before doing big roles he had performed many small roles and national television commercials. First time he played the character of the son of Jamie Lee Curtis character in the movie Halloween: H20. That movie was released on Wednesday August 5, 1998.

Since Josh Hartnett has developed a steady film career and appeared in several successful Hollywood films including Sin City (2005), Mozart and the Whale (2005), Wicker Park (2004), Hollywood Homicide (2003), Black Hawk Down (2001), Pearl Harbor (2001), The Virgin Suicides (1999), The Faculty (1998) etc.

In 1999 Josh was chosen as one of Teen People Magazine's 21 Hottest Stars Under 21, one of Teen People's 25 Hottest Stars under 25 and one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People, both in 2002, and was voted Bliss Magazine's 3rd sexiest male.

He dated his high school sweetheart Ellen Fenster for a number of years. Both were bough a $2.5 million mansion in Minneapolis. In February 2004 they were split out and now days Hartnett is linked with actress Scarlett Johansson.
