Kate Bosworth was born on 2nd January, 1983, in Los Angeles, California, USA. She was born as Catherine Anne Bosworth. Her father, Hal Bosworth was an executive for Talbots and mother, Patricia Potter was a homemaker.

At the age of 6, Kate Bosworth's family leaved San Francisco, and her family frequently moved around the country because of her father's job. Kate Bosworth grew up mainly on the East Coast and she spent her rest of youth in Darien, Connecticut and Cohasset, Massachusetts. Because of frequent relocations, she always describes herself as "shy".

In 2001, Kate Bosworth was graduated from Cohasset high school. She is fluent in Spanish. She was a member of the National Honor Society. In the high school, she was very good at varsity soccer and lacrosse. Kate Bosworth has been accepted to Princeton University, but she has deferred her acceptance for movie production.

Kate Bosworth has two cats, Louise and Dusty. She has a dog, Lila. In 2004, Kate adopted Lila in Morocco. She is a champion equestrian.

In 1998, Kate Bosworth's first movie, "The Horse Whisperer" was released. Robert Redford was the director of this movie. In this movie, she played a role of Judith. For the audition of this movie, she used a family Christmas card photo as the required headshot. After this movie, she played many roles in the movies including Remember the Titans, Blue Crush, Win a Date With Tad Hamilton!, Beyond the Sea, etc.

In 2004, Kate Bosworth's another movie, "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!" was released. In this movie she played a role of Rosalee Futch. Robert Luketic was the director of this movie. For this movie, she won Teen Choice Award(Choice Movie Liplock, Choice Movie Actress - Comedy, and Choice Movie Blush).

Kate Bosworth previously dated actor Matt Czuchry. She met him on the set of television series, Young Americans. Currently, she is dating actor Orlando Bloom. She met him outside a coffee shop.
