Liv Tyler was born July 1, 1977, in Portland, Maine. Her unique first name can be traced after her mother, model and former rock groupie Bebe Buell, saw Liv Ullmann on the cover of a TV Guide the week Liv was born. As for the roots of her last name, Liv always believed that her father was musician Todd Rundgren, who her mother had a long-term relationship with and who helped raise her. Liv made her biological father's name her own at the age of 12, and 2 years later, Liv moved to New York city in the company of her mother and began to pursue her career. While Liv grew into a statuesque, blue-eyed beauty. She had her father's unmistakable pouty, Mick Jagger-like lips, she claims she was chubby and awkward while growing up. A year was enough of the modeling grind, and she decided to become an actress. She was offered the part of Callie in Heavy (1995) after a single reading, and only three weeks later was cast in Silent Fall (1994) - James Mangold, director of Heavy (1995), decided to delay shooting until Liv was available. With seven films in the 1993-96 period her career took off. Other roles soon followed in the films Empire Records (1995), Stealing Beauty (1996), That Thing You Do! (1996, directed by Tom Hanks), Inventing the Abbotts (1997), U Turn (1997) and an uncredited part in the movie Can't Hardly Wait (1998). In 1988, Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton and a star studded cast ventured into outer space to save Earth from a massive asteroid and the blockbuster hit Armageddon (1998) was born. Liv's role as Willis' daughter and the movie's love interest (Ben Affleck) shot her into the fame spotlight. More roles soon followed in Plunkett & Macleane (1999), Cookie's Fortune (1999), Onegin (1999), Dr. T & the Women (2000) and One Night at McCool's (2001). In 2001 the first of the amazing trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was released with Liv starring in the coveted role of Arwen, elf daughter of Elrond (played by Hugo Weaving) and the love of hero Aragorn (played by Viggo Mortensen). The movie slammed box office expectations and the remaining two films The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) followed in suit. Liv played the role of Arwen in all three fantastic films. She became the darling of the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 with her extraordinary performance in celebrated Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci's Stealing Beauty. Her choice of off-beat characters have helped her establish herself as more than just another pretty face. Her hippie upbringing has also made her have a very laid back character, and the joy of living her mother preaches about sure got through to Liv. Despite her fame, the sweetness that enthralled casting agents is still present. Liv baby, you are amazing. In 2003 Liv has been selected to be the new face of "Givenchy", following the footsteps of Audrey Hepburn. The first product published by Liv is "Very Irresistible Givenchy" perfume, as can be seen on TV commercials and magazines.
