Celebrity › Morgan Webb
From simple philosophy student to the programmer's pin-up girl, Morgan Webb had quite a commute. She persisted the dot-com bust and found a comfortable spot in the offices of TechTV, where her expertise with Windows, worthy of making Bill Gates gasp, and her popular cubicle cam quickly made her the apple in the weary Microsoft user's eyes. She's cute, moody and has a smile that would make the staunchest XP champion fold.
Morgan Webb, who is most bombshell TV hostesses tend to share similar traits blond hair, a abominable perky attitude and the ability to withstand extended close contact with Regis Philbin. But Morgan Webb offers other qualities. "My strong suits are first-person shooters on a PC," says the Los Angelino. "Oh, and I can take a computer apart and put it back together. I built the first computer I ever had about 10 years ago."
So charming and popular was she, that she was put in the helm of the new X-Play show, where her love for video games would go unfettered. Her hair continues to be unpredictable, though looks very tech-chic in its current reddish brown. And the way she sticks up for Linux is just too winsome.
Morgan Webb is a celebrity in a specific but widespread circle. Those who know her and like her, like her a lot, but they are limited to subscribers of extended cable packages or satellite TV. Morgan's name, however, leapt those boundaries after a fan hacked into Madonna's website and wrote Morgan a marriage proposal. Overnight she became one of the most searched names on Yahoo!, earning it the top spot on the Buzz Index movers list. She has teased fans with the promise of a blog, yet has kept them on edge. Certainly we can expect heavy Internet traffic jams when it finally does go live.
Morgan Webb is one of only six TechTV personalities, including Adam Sessler, Sarah Lane, Chi-Lan Lieu, Kevin Rose, and Brendan Moran, to survive the impressive layoffs resulting from the May 2004 merger of G4 and TechTV. Rose and Lieu have since left the network.
Morgan Webb can still be seen on X-Play. She lives in a San Francisco house with some friends, where she relaxes by using Linux instead of Windows. She still hasn't officially accepted the marriage proposal from her fan.
