Actor, director, producer, Paul Newman was known as Star of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance KidOne. He is also a prominent social activist, a major proponent of actors' creative rights, and a noted philanthropist. He is one of the biggest movie stars of the 20th century.

Paul Newman won the Best Actor Oscar for his role in Martin Scorsese's The Color of Money (1988, co-starring Tom Cruise). He has been nominated for Best Actor seven other times, for films including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958, opposite Elizabeth Taylor), The Hustler (1961, co-starring George C. Scott), and Cool Hand Luke (1967).

As a director Newman has also made several films, including Rachel, Rachel (1968), Sometimes A Great Notion (1971, based on the novel by Ken Kesey) and Harry and Son (1984), The Glass Menagerie (1987), The Shadow Box (1980), The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (1972). .

Paul Newman was most papular for his extra blue eyes. He was votaed as one of Empire's 100 Sexiest Stars in film history (1995) and People's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World (1990). Newman received an honorary Oscar in recognition of his charity work (1994).

The owner of a summer camp for children with cancer and other blood-related diseases in Ashford, Connecticut, Newman also runs a fall Discovery program for inner city kids and opened a camp for chronically ill children, The Painted Turtle, in May 2004.
