Prince William biography

He was born Prince William Arthur Phillip Louis of Wales in St. Mary’s Hospital, London. His father, Prince Charles, is the prince and first in line of the throne. His mother is the late Princess Diana. He has a younger brother, Prince Harry. Being the prince, William was from a very early age taken to Royal Duties by his parents. But his mother wanted both her children to have a normal upbringing. They were raised as any other children, the only difference being that they lived in the Buckingham Palace.

William attended the independent schools all over England continuing in tradition of his father. William finished his education from Eton College going against the tradition of attending Gordonstoun. William then joined the army for a year and spent some time outside England. When he returned he joined the University of St. Andrews to learn art history, he later changed his subject to geography.. When news of this spread many girls enrolled into the University just to have a chance to meet the prince.

In October 2005, William decided to make a career in the army. To join the army he went through a selection process and finished a course at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. William wanted to be in active service but it would have been impossible because of the threat to his life. So William opted to join the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. He even manned an aircraft to Afghanistan to retrieve the body of a fallen trooper. Finally, the prince settled in the RAF to work as a pilot for Search and Rescue Force. He even participated in his first rescue of a man on an offshore oil rig. The man had suffered a heart-attack but survived the ordeal as help arrived on time.

William was dating Kate Middleton for a long time, but the two broke up after intense media pressure. Kate was William’s University flat mate and the two had started dating in 2003. She even attended many social gatherings as his guest but then there was never confirmation from the Buckingham Palace about their relationship. There were reports of an engagement but soon they turned out to be untrue. The constant media attention was a little overwhelming for Kate and the two split. William had even made a request to the media to leave her alone but the tabloids did not relent. But recently, the two have rekindled their romance and have set a wedding date for 2012.
