Ryan Reynolds Biography

Ryan was born in Vancouver, Canada. His father, James, was mounted policeman first, and, after retirement, became a food wholesaler, and his mother, Tammy, was a salesperson. Ryan is the youngest of four children and had very simple childhood. He finished his high schooling from Kitsilano Secondary School. He even attended drama school but failed to complete it. But lady luck was in his favor as he landed a role on the hit Nickelodeon show, Fifteen. The show was taped in Florida, so he moved to the States while the show was on air.

Ryan’s real struggle began after the show finished for good. He moved back to Vancouver and did a lot of work in TV movies. His career was slowly sinking, and he too realized it. Ryan was ready to give up on acting for good, but good friend actor Chris Martin stepped in. He took Ryan and headed for Los Angeles. They lived in a cheap little motel searching for acting jobs throughout the day. Life was hard for Ryan, but his patience paid off. He auditioned for the role of ‘Berg’ in a sitcom called Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place. Luckily, he was the only actor that read for the part, and the producers loved him. Thus restarted Ryan’s stint on television, but this time as an adult. The show did well and completed four seasons on air.

From there, Ryan did small roles in many comedy films and did cameos on many hit TV shows. He chose to slowly build his acting career through funny and romantic roles. He won many female hearts with his role in Just Friends (2005). But he also harbored dreams of working in action films. Ryan played the role of Hannibal King in the Wesley Snipes starrer Blade: Trinity (2004). He bulked up for the role, and fans too enjoyed his new look. This film probably helped him land the remake of the 1979 classic horror film The Amityville Horror (2005); the movie was of the same name. It did well, and even got Ryan a MTV Movie award for best horror scene.

In 2007, he finally did a lead role in The Proposal (2009) opposite Sandra Bullock. It hit the marquee and made more than $300 million at the box-office. Now it was time for Ryan to march ahead. He landed the role of Deadpool in the X-Men spin-off movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Origins did well, and it was soon announced that his character of Deadpool will also have his own spin-off film. This was just the beginning for Ryan.

Now he was set to create history by being the first actor to portray hit comic characters from two different publications. After playing Deadpool for Marvel Comics, he won the role of superhero Green Lantern, and his alter-ego Hal Jordan for DC comics. He has finished filming for the role, and the movie is even set for release in 2011. Ryan has some great films up for release, and the next few years might see him reach dizzying heights of fame.

Wish the same could be said about his personal life. After a failed engagement to Canadian singer Alanis Morissette, he thought he found his soul mate in actress Scarlett Johansson. They began dating in 2007 and got married 2008, but recently they shocked everyone by announcing that they have mutually decided to get divorced. It was surprising news as the couple had always seemed happy in public.
