Stephanie McMahon Biography

Stephanie McMahon

Stephanie Marie McMahon was born in Hartford, Connecticut, USA on the 24th September, 1976, the youngest daughter of Vince and Linda McMahon. After a childhood growing up around wrestlers and the wrestling business, it was no surprise that the beautiful and intelligent baby girl of Vince McMahon would enter the game herself. She was first spotted in WWF publications modelling Hulk Hogan and Rockers merchandise in the late '80s before disappearing out of the spotlight.

Stephanie McMahon spent the time learning her art under Mom and Dad, and the ambitious WWF viewer would have spotted her sitting alongside Pat Patterson in backstage segments of Beyond The Mat or fleeting glances of her on PPVs. After gaining a degree in Communications from Boston University, Stephanie was working in Titan's advertising department when Daddy came calling and told her she was being written into the McMahon soap opera as a full character.

Although Linda McMahon encouraged her daughter to try to make a name for herself elsewhere, Steph always wanted to work with her family. After graduating from high school and eventually from Boston University in 1998, she became an Account Executive at Titan Sports (now WWFE) in New York. It was later in the year that Stephanie began appearing on WWF TV. Her first encounter was when she passed Stone Cold Steve Austin in a hallway. From there, Stephanie would occasionally appear with Linda McMahon, usually standing beside her or behind her. It wasn't until the Undertaker abducted her as part of his "Ministry of Darkness" angle when Steph was pushed into the WWF spotlight. The Undertaker abducted Steph and arranged for an unholy wedding between himself and Steph. It was her dad's nemisis, Steve Austin, who came to her rescue.

Vince took a leave from the WWF, which left HHH and Steph in control. Steph eventually won the WWF Women's title, and during this time (behind the scenes) became head of the WWF writing team.

On July 18th, 2002 Stephanie returned to the renamed WWE as the general manager of SmackDown!. She stole talents such as Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker from the RAW brand, but lost Triple H, Chris Jericho, Christian, Lance Storm and Test. She feuded with RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff throughout 2002, though the enemies inexplicably shared a kiss at a Halloween party at which Stephanie was dressed as a witch and Bischoff was disguised as her father. Stephanie was also given credit for the return of Hulk Hogan and eventually became a face once more.

During her angle as the McMahon-Helmsley Era saga, HHH began a feud with Kurt Angle, whom Steph seemed to take a particular liking to. More recently, she began a feud with Trish Straus, whom Vince has "left" Linda McMahon for.

Stephanie was ousted from her position after losing an "I Quit" match to her father, Vince McMahon on October 19, 2003 at No Mercy. Vince was a heel once again; though he originally had been the one to appoint Stephanie as the General Manager, he began to resent her growing independence as well as her attempts to stop him from pursuing an affair with Sable, and decided that he wanted her to quit. Stephanie did not say "I Quit", but lost when her mother, Linda, at ringside threw in a towel on her behalf. She would be immediately succeeded by Paul Heyman. On March 13th, 2004 she attended the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and on September 23rd, she appeared on the fifth year anniversary episode of SmackDown! and talked about her favorite SmackDown! moments.
