Thandie Newton was born on November 6, 1972 in Zambia. She is a daughter of Nick Newton and Nyasha. Her father was british and mother was a Zimbabwean. She has a brother, James. At the age of 4, her family moved to London. After that her family shifted in Cornwall on England's south coast until age 11. Thandie Newton was enrolled in London's Art Educational School. In this school, she studied modern dance. At Cambridge University, she received a degree in anthropology. Thandie Newton married with Ol Parker who is writer and director in 1998. The couple has two daughters: younger one Nico was born in 2004 and elder Ripley was born in 2000. Thandie named her elder daughter as Ripley after the character played by Sigourney Weaver in Alien. "Thandiwe" means "beloved" in Shona. Thandie Newton played a role of "Beloved" in the film adaptation of the Toni Morrison novel Beloved in 1998. In 1999, she was nominated for the Image Award as a Outstanding Supporting Actress in a motion picture. Thandie Newton's movie, "Mission: Impossible II" was released in 2000. Her friend Nicole Kidman recommended her for this movie. She played a role of Nyah Nordoff-Hall with actor Tom Cruise who played a role of Ethan Hunt. John Woo was the director of this movie.
