Tom Cruise born on July, 3, 1962 in Thomas Cruise Mapother IV and soon he became one of the top 100 movie stars of all time, although the ambition was to become a priest. Because of his sensitive, deeply religious youngster Tom, was destined to become Tom Cruise, the highest paid and most sought after actors in the history of screen.

Tom Cruise made a strong impression through the first leading role, in the teen comedy Risky Business (1983), and became the first taste of box office success as the star of Top Gun (1986). Tom was soon listed in the A-list of movie stars, due to his all successful movies which include - Rain Man (1988, with Dustin Hoffman), The Color of Money (1986, with Paul Newman), A Few Good Men (1992, with Jack Nicholson) and Jerry Maguire (1996, with Renee Zellweger) and more.

Tom has been married twice first to Mimi Rogers (May 9, 1987 - February 4, 1990). He and Nicole Kidman adopted two children Isabella and Connor. Tom met his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, where filming one of his few duds, Days of Thunder (1990), and together they appeared in Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut in 1999. He later married to Nicole Kidman (December 24, 1990 - August 8, 2001). Tom Cruise is the Hollywood's busiest actors, taking on blockbuster franchises as Mission: Impossible (1996-2004) as well as more diverse dramas such as Magnolia (1999), Vanilla Sky (2001) and Minority Report (2002, co-starring Samantha Morton) of the Steven Spielberg and War of the Worlds in 2005.

A number of Tom Cruise's popular movies have cast him in a similar way, one which has been half-jokingly referred to by movie fans as the "Generic Tom Cruise Character." In these types of roles he has portrayed a character who, as the film begins, is seen as a cocky, stuck-up, self-centered egotist who cares for little other than himself. Then his character learns to become more open-minded and altruistic by the time the climax has been reached, he has undergone a change and been transformed into a better human being. Top Gun is an examples of the "Generic Tom Cruise Character" and can be seen in Rain Man, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire, Cocktail, Vanilla Sky, The Last Samurai, War of the Worlds, and others. Tom Cruise's most recent film - War of the Worlds, achieved USD $34.6 million in ticket sales around the world on its debut, more than any other of his films.

Cruise was named to the Board of Governors of the National Space Society, a nonprofit, educational space advocacy organization founded by Dr. Wernher von Braun in 2003. Tom Cruise also received an Academy Award for "Jerry Maguire" - Nomination for best actor. He renounced his devout Catholic beliefs and embraced The Church Of Scientology claiming that Scientology teachings had cured him of the dyslexia that had plagued him all of his life in 1990.
